1. Norway Reports Two Outbreaks of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in Wild Birds 

On September 15 and 17, Norway reported two outbreaks of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza in wild birds in two locations including Nordland County, with two infected birds dying.

2. Germany Reports One Outbreak of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in Poultry

On September 15, Germany reported one outbreak of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza in poultry in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State, involving 40 infected birds and 5,520 culled.

3. Canada Reports Three Outbreaks of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in Wild Birds and Three in Poultry

 On September 16 and 18, Canada reported three outbreaks of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza in wild birds and poultry in three locations including Alberta Province, with 15 infected birds and multiple poultry deaths.

4. UK Reports Fifteen Outbreaks of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in Wild Birds

On September 16, the UK reported fifteen outbreaks of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza in wild birds in three locations including England, with 31 infected birds and deaths.

5. Portugal Reports One Outbreak of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in Wild Birds

On September 16, Portugal reported one outbreak of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza in its exclusive economic zone, with one infected bird dying.

6. H5N1 Avian Influenza Outbreaks in Wild Poultry and Three Domestic Fowl Cases in the United States 

On September 19, the U.S. reported five cases of H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds and three cases in domestic fowl across three locations including Georgia. The outbreak resulted in 5 deaths from infected free-range poultry, 40 culling operations, 347 deaths among domestic fowl, and 143,000 culling operations.

On September 16 and 18, Armenia reported two rabies outbreaks in Koteik Province, with two domestic dogs infected and subsequently dying.

8. Rabies Outbreak in Melilla, Spanish Overseas Territory

On September 19, Spain reported a rabies outbreak in Melilla, an overseas territory, involving one domestic dog that died after infection.
