Amid mounting challenges including rising costs, intense market competition, insufficient biosecurity implementation, and evolving pathogen variants, the already vulnerable yellow-feathered breeder industry faces mounting pressures. To address these issues and strengthen defenses against critical threats like highly pathogenic avian influenza, the Guangdong Provincial Association of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine held the "Seminar on Winter Disease Control for Yellow-Feathered Breeder Chickens" on November 30. The event was successfully hosted at South China Biological Medicine Co., Ltd. in Guangzhou.

The seminar was co-organized by the Guangdong Provincial Association of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine and the Disease Control Laboratory of the National Chicken Industry Technology System, and co-hosted by the Poultry Science Branch of the Association and South China Biological Medicine Co., Ltd. (SCBM).

Mr. Luo Kaijian, General Manager of SCBM

Mr. Luo Kaijian, General Manager of SCBM, delivered a presentation titled "Passing the Torch, Fulfilling the Mission, and Co-creating the Future." He noted that SCBM was established in 2004 based on the Veterinary Science and Technology Center of South China Agricultural University, with its origins tracing back to the university's Experimental Veterinary Pharmaceutical Factory founded in 1987.

As learned by New Poultry Information, SCBM carries forward the legacy of generations of scientists from the College of Veterinary Medicine at South China Agricultural University, including Kuang Ronglu, Xin Chao'an, and Liao Ming. Upholding their spirit of applying research to practical use, the company serves as an industrial base for transforming scientific achievements into real-world solutions. It was the first among China's higher education institutions to industrialize a full series of avian influenza inactivated vaccines (including monovalent and combined vaccines for H5, H7, and H9 subtypes), achieving remarkable outcomes in industry-academia-research collaboration and establishing a leading position in the field of avian influenza prevention and control in China.

Luo Kaijian emphasized that SCBM has always prioritized "technological innovation" and adhered to the principle of "serving the industry." For 19 years, the company has remained dedicated to supporting the national poultry sector and looks forward to collaborating with industry peers to jointly advance towards a brighter future.

During the seminar, Ms. He Jiaye, Vice President of the SCBM Research Institute, and Mr. Hao Jianyong, Assistant Technical Director of SCBM, presented thematic reports on the current status and prevention strategies of avian influenza and infectious bronchitis in poultry.

Hao Jianyong delivered a presentation titled "Epidemic Status and Prevention & Control of Infectious Bronchitis." He analyzed the prevalence and impact of infectious bronchitis in China from multiple perspectives, including poultry breeds, genotypes, prevalent strains, and regional distribution, while also sharing diagnostic insights. Furthermore, he provided SCBM's recommendations for the prevention and control of infectious bronchitis.

In addition to the thematic presentations, the seminar facilitated in-depth discussions among academic experts and industry representatives on key topics such as major disease prevention in winter, industry trends of yellow-feathered chickens, and enterprise management. These exchanges bridged laboratory research with field practices, clarified development pathways for enterprises and the industry, and contributed to promoting the healthy and sustainable growth of the yellow-feathered breeder sector.
